Touring the Region

During the ALBA study abroad program you will have the opportunity to travel throughout the surrounding region to visit Biblical and Historical sites. (Please note that these trips must be planned prior to your departure for the study abroad program.) All tours are conducted by Aristotle Travel, a highly reputable tour agency for the Mediterranean region. Weekend Italy Tour

DAY 01 (Thu) - ROME Fly from Athens to Rome and transfer to the hotel for accomodation. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 02 (Fri) - ROME Breakfast. Today enjoy a full-day guided sightseeing of the "Eternal City": in the morning we will visit the Coliseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus etc.; in the afternoon we will visit Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps etc. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 03 (Sat) - ROME Breakfast. In the morning we will go to the Vatican and will see St. Peter's Square and Basilica. Visit the Vatican Museums with its marvellous Sistine Chapel. In the afternoon, visit the major Basilicas in Rome (the Basilica of St. Mary Major and St. John's In Lateran plus the Holy Stairs). Overnight in hotel.

DAY 04 (Sun) - ROME / DEPARTURE Breakfast. Day at leisure. Transfer to the airport in due time to take your return flight. Back to Top

Weekend Tour of Egypt

Thursday - CAIRO Depart Athens for Cairo, upon arrival transfer to the hotel for check in, dinner & overnight.

Friday - Full Day Visit in Giza. After breakfast at the hotel enjoy a full day visit to Giza. We see the Pyramids, the Sphinx, then we drive to Memphis, and Sakkara to see the step Pyramid. Return to hotel for dinner & overnight.

Saturday - Full Day Cairo Visit After breakfast at the hotel we will drive drive to downtown Cairo to visit the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel with Mohamed Ali Mosque and Old Cairo. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Sunday - Cairo Departure After breakfast at the hotel check out and enjoy the day at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Athens. Back to Top

Weekend Tour of Israel

Thursday - Tel Aviv Travel from Athens to Tel Aviv, transfer to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Friday - Mt Olives, Gethsemane, Kidron valley, Mt Zion, Bethlehem, Dead Sea Drive to the Mount of Olives for a wonderful view of Jerusalem. See the Place of Ascension and the Pater Noster Church, and view the Palm Sunday road. At the foot of the hill see the Garden of Gethsemane with its ancient olive trees and the Church of All Nations. Drive down the Kidron Valley and see the Pool of Siloam, and St. Peter in Gallicantu built over the palace of the High Priest Caiaphas. On Mount Zion visit the tomb of David, the Upper Room and the Church of the Dormition. Then drive to Bethlehem. See the Church of the Nativity, and below it the cave-stable of Jesus' birth, If time there will be an opportunity to go shopping. Drive down the Jordan Valley to Jericho and view the Mt Temptation. Continue to Dead Sea, the lowest sea on earth for a dip. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Saturday - Galilee, Boat ride, Capernaum, Tabgha, Mt Beatitude Drive up the Jordan Valley to the Sea of Galilee. Take the boat from Tiberias to Capernaum; there you will see an ancient synagogue and St. Peter's house which was later converted into a church. Also by the shore you will visit Tabgha with the Church of Peter's Primacy and the ancient mosaic of the Loaves and Fishes. Continue to the Mount of Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount is remembered. Return down the Jordan Valley to Jerusalem.

Sunday - Jerusalem Old City Enter the Old City through the Dung Gate to visit the Western Wall, the Temple Area with the Al-Aksa mosque and the Dome of the Rock where Abraham was going to sacrifice his son. See the Pool of Bethesda where the angel ruffled the water, and St. Anne's Church, traditional birthplace of Jesus' mother. Visit the Convent of Zion Sisters, then pass the Stations of the Cross to the Church of The Holy Sepulchre. Leave the Old City through the Bazaars. Transfer to airport for departure.Back to Top

Weekend Tour of Turkey

Thursday - Istanbul Travel from Athens to Istanbul and transfer to the hotel for accommodation. Overnight in hotel.

Friday - Full Day Istanbul Breakfast at hotel and at 9:00 a.m. begin your journey in Istanbul, the only city in the world situated on two continents. Byzantium Constantinople, Istanbul- its three names span more than 2600 years nearly 1600 of them as the capital of two of the greatest empires the world has know, Byzantine and Ottoman. We visit the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, The Blue Mosque and Hippodrome, where chariot races and the Byzantine riots took place. Visit the Grand Bazaar for shopping. Overnight in Istanbul.

Saturday - Full Day Istanbul Breakfast at the hotel and then at 9:00 a.m. begin your day with a visit to Chora Museum and then a 2 hours Bosphorus cruise. Continue to visit the Underground Cistern and enjoy some free time in the Spice Bazaar. Overnight in Istanbul.

Sunday - Istanbul Departure After breakfast check out of the hotel and enjoy time at leisure until your private transfer to Istanbul airport for your flight back to Athens. Back to Top
